Our staff at Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute includes highly skilled and specially certified therapists who offer the following inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services (click on a topic below to learn more):
Physical therapists help restore movement through therapeutic exercise, manual therapy and functional training.
Occupational therapists apply their specific knowledge to enable people to engage in activities of daily living that have personal meaning and value through therapeutic use of everyday activities (occupations).
Hand therapy (performed by certified hand therapists or CHTs) is the art and science of rehabilitation of the upper limbs, including hand and wrist as well as elbows and shoulder girdles. It is a merging of physical and occupational therapy theory and practice that combines comprehensive knowledge of the structure of the upper limb with function and activity.
Manual therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy in which therapists place pressure on muscle tissue and manipulate joints by using their hands to apply condition-specific placement, force and techniques.
Rehabilitative taping, including Kinesio Taping®, promotes natural healing without restricting range of motion.
The Alter-G anti-gravity treadmill allows us to have you bear weight, walk, or run at less than full body weight, making it less painful and easier to return you to your previous level of function. For more info, click here.
